**About the Role**

**Base Location**: Flexible UK, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key sites, which includes but is not limited to: Reading, London, Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness.

**Salary**: Upto £79,700 + car/car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

As Senior Commercial Modeller you will actively support our Solar & Battery Commercial Team by leading the commercial and financial evaluation of new business opportunities and building business cases for future investment decisions.

You will create and own the complex financial and commercial models to identify competitive advantage opportunities, deliver value, ensure bids are competitive and that our investments are cognisant of the risks and opportunities.

The role will assess the impact of future projects on the business’s short and long-term earnings forecasts.

Key Accountabilities may include:

- Leading the creation and development of financial investment appraisal models for Solar and Battery projects, supporting projects through the SSE governance and approvals process. Working with Corporate Finance to ensure models are fit for purpose and financial calculations are accurately incorporated.
- Managing and developing more junior commercial modellers within the team.
- Working across multiple functions within the Solar and Battery sector and wider SSE (Trading, Development, Engineering, Construction, Procurement and Asset Management) to understand and interpret project details such as technical capability and yield, revenue market opportunities, capex costs and spend profiles, to form a robust view of project returns.
- Integrating inputs and assumptions into commercial models and assumption books from across teams (development, technical, financial), be responsible for data quality and challenge where appropriate.
- Supporting negotiations, when required, of contract terms through providing data analysis and modelling support to assist the commercial manager in driving the contract to completion.
- Conducting ad-hoc analysis to assess potential risks and opportunities for the Solar & Battery business cases. Reporting findings to the wider business.

**What do I need?**

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Detailed level of understanding of UK and Ireland energy markets required to help define commercial strategies and identify risks and opportunities.
- Knowledge of solar and battery technologies and revenue streams is preferred.
- Understanding of commercial modelling best practices (FAST) and analytical techniques
- Excellent analytical, written, and numerical skills with demonstrable experience working with complex data sets and modelling.
- Strong commercial acumen with a solid understanding of financial principals such as NPV, IRR and key financial statements.
- Confidence using own initiative to investigate value-adding opportunities and conducting ad-hoc analysis with ability to communicate and present this to the wider business.
