Role Purpose
The Information Security Officer (ISO) ensures that business and IT in the first line of defense are sufficiently enabled to take well-informed decisions, balancing commercial gains and potential risks carefully.
You will support the first line of defense during the various risk management processes, providing expertise where required, and challenging decisions and justifications by the business and IT.
As a trusted advisor, this role will pro-actively provide advice and support to business and IT.
Key Responsibilities- Implement the (Information) Risk Management Framework and its processes, as defined by Corporate Information Risk Management.- Facilitate business impact analyses and risk assessments (as initiated and owned by the 1st line of defence) by guiding them through the processes, providing expertise, asking questions, and challenging decisions or justifications, and help define security requirements for local projects and for global projects with local impact.- Monitor the progress on the security action plan and escalate when necessary. This includes the follow-up on any findings from risk assessments, control testing, security scans, penetration test reports, Disaster Recovery tests, etc.- Identify, register, monitor and report on issues that contribute to risks, in order to support the entity’s Management Team with understanding the current and future risk exposure of the entity, compared to the entity’s risk appetite.- Create and maintain a security action plan in cooperation with other stakeholders, including UK Privacy Officer, and the local 1st lines, in order to improve cyber resilience, the overall IT security levels, and the privacy of customer and commercially sensitive information.- Translate risks into a language that resonates with the 1st line of defence, so that they understand their risk exposure better and can define the appropriate risk response, based on informed and cost-balanced decisions. Including an Information Security Awareness programme.- Provide support and expertise during local procurement activities, e.g. by supporting risk assessments on potential vendors, and assess whether vendors meet the contractual information security requirements.- Sign off on risk assessments, only when agreeing with the scope and quality of the assessments. The ISO does
- _not _approve proposed risk responses, that is the accountability of the associated Risk Owners.
Experience/Qualifications- CISSP or CISM Accredited, or be able to obtain within 2 years- A certificate in ITIL Foundation v3 or v4, or evidence of a completed course, would be useful to the role.
