**Assistant Herdsperson**
We are looking for a dedicated Assistant Herdsperson to support our operation, either on a long-term basis or just for the summer.
We run a 500-cow summer/autumn block calving system with a Procross herd, milking through a 40:40 herringbone parlour.
Located near Ashburton (10 minutes), Totnes (15 minutes), and Newton Abbot (20 minutes).
**Responsibilities**:
- Assist with daily farm operations, including cleaning, and maintenance tasks.
- Participate in calving and assist with feeding of calves.
- Help manage grazing plans, herd health, and breeding programs.
- Perform basic tractor work and machinery maintenance as needed.
- Participate in milking routines and ensure proper milking procedures are followed.
- Assist with the rearing of young stock, including feeding and health monitoring.
**Requirements**:
- Some experience in livestock/animal care is preferred, but training will be provided.
- Strong work ethic, patience, and compassion for animals.
- Ability to work as part of a small team.
- Reliable, punctual, and eager to learn.
- Full driving license and access to transportation.
- Tractor driving experience is desirable but not essential.
