Tom Maxwell Furniture & Cabinetry Ltd is a small business in Leeds. Every item we craft is a unique response to our client’s needs and ideas. Led by designer-maker, Tom Maxwell, we are a diverse team of young passionate furniture makers based in Leeds, serving both individual and commercial customers across the UK. With backgrounds in engineering, cabinet making, art and design, we combine mechanical precision and craftsmanship with style and creativity, to create beautiful one-off pieces that solve problems and enhance spaces.

Experienced and enthusiastic cabinet/ furniture maker with a keen eye for detail, excellent problem solver and an overall team player is required to join a small growing bespoke furniture manufacturing company based on Kirkstall Road in Leeds

We design and create a wide range of one-off bespoke pieces of furniture ranging from individual freestanding pieces to full kitchens and walk in wardrobes. We are a company with a social and environmental conscience seeking to find better ways to make furniture in the community and world that we live.

Working as a cabinet maker you would be expected to perform the following:

- Produce accurate and consistent work to the highest possible standard
- Contribute in design review meetings to ensure the best working methods and practices are applied
- To work to agreed timescales
- To work as an individual and a team player
- To be able to inspect materials coming in and loading/ packing furniture for delivery.
- To have a good level of knowledge and understanding in ironmongery, materials and finishes.
- To able to problem solve and develop ideas

Key requirements
- To read and understand CAD drawings
- To have previous experience in either joinery or cabinetry
- To be able to use general woodworking machines including panel saw, chop saw, planer/ thicknesser/ edgebander, router table and hand held power tools
- Knowledge & experienced in the use of all basic hand tools
- Experience in veneering and vacuum tables
- To observe Health & safety rules and be observant of possible hazards in the work place
- To ensure the workplace is kept clean and tidy
- Reliable and punctual
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to use own initiative

The majority of work is caried out in the workshop but may also involve occasional installations and some adaptability is essential.

Having a clean driving licence and own transport is desirable but not essential.

The pay rate we offer will vary depending on the individual applicants skills.

**Salary**: £12.00-£14.00 per hour
