To provide support to BSMHFT in relation to trust transport requirements to include General Transport, Non-Emergency Patient Transport, Hire Cars and contracted out trust Taxi service, providing a professional customer focused service.

Work as part of a multi disciplinary team to ensure efficient and effective support is given to the Portering & Transport Department and other departments within Estates & Facilities. Providing cover for colleagues within the organisation as required.
At SSL, we work in partnership with Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust (BSMHFT), to deliver facilities management, transport and other support services to over 50 sites across the West Midlands. Our team keeps expanding and since our establishment, in 2012, we have grown rapidly though the acquisition of new sites and services. SSL is committed to ensuring the safety of all our staff and our customers, service users. In order to prevent the spread of Covid-19, the Government had passed legislation requiring individuals in England who are employed or engaged in the provision of a CQC regulated activity and have face to face contact with patients or service users to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Communication
disseminating the information to enable the transport request to be actioned upon either by the Trust Inhouse NEPT Transport or forwarded to our nominated taxi provider.
- The post holder is responsible for communicating effectively with a wide range of health service personnel, clinical/non clinical, including those at senior level both internally and externally.
- The post holder is responsible for establishing co-operative working relationships with other staff at individual or team level, keeping team members and supervisors informed of opportunities for development of the transport service In-House, as well as any problems, difficulties or complaints that may arise.
- The post holder will be required to liaise with outside organisations in order to arrange booking and ensuring the handover of service users to their appointments and also upon return to home address
- Responsible for ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times in accordance with the data protection act, trust policy and good practice.
- Responsible for liaising with other members of the Portering and Transport Team in order to provide a co-ordinated and efficient service and maintain good working relationships with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Organisational
- The post holder is responsible for providing a admin service to the Portering and Transport Department,
- Providing operational support for the trust transport services and processing and auditing of daily requests received from the client. Input all requests received for transport into the trust recognised
software on a daily basis to enable reports to be pulled to support BSMHFT.
- The post holder is responsible for setting up and maintaining effective manual and computerised filing systems.
- Supporting in collating a report to Line Manager and colleagues of all transport data
- The post holder is expected to work under own initiative, prioritising workload in line with the objectives of the Portering and Transport Department to ensure the most efficient and effective use of time and resources.
- The post holder is required to work in a busy environment undertaking all duties with frequent distractions/interruptions.
- At times the post holder will be working alone in the office environment
- The post holder is responsible for ensuring that they contribute and work towards the
service/organisational aims and objectives
- The post holder as an individual is required to understand their responsibility for respecting and promoting issues of equality diversity and rights in accordance with good practice and legislation
- Responsible for reading, understanding and complying with all relevant trust and statutory policies and procedures.
- Responsible for Supporting the Transport Department in arranging regular Maintenance on Trust vehicles and monitoring insurance
