Reservationist

We are looking for a reservationist to join our team.
We require employees to be flexible with their working hours. This will include evening and weekend working.
40 Hours, 5 over 7 days of the week.
**Reporting to**:
Director of Sales
**Background**:
The hotel offers a peaceful and tranquil setting in the Hertfordshire countryside. The hotel boasts 70 bedrooms all comfortable and contemporary styled.
We offer conference and banqueting facilities; catering for up to 400 guests, we can host all types of events; from weddings, training workshops, exhibitions to private dinners and balls.
**Purpose**:
The purpose of this role is to deal with the reservations function whilst maximising room sales and answering queries.
To be able trained and ready to help other departments should the need arise.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Procedures**:
- To be friendly, knowledgeable and assertive with guests
- To take and make calls in regards to individual and group bookings,
- To deal with corporate bookings and regular visitors to the hotel
- Check guests in and out if needed
- To ensure that all guest billing is dealt with efficiently
- To work closely with the team to ensure that reception is always ready to greet guests and that guest’s needs are anticipated and action is taken.
- To have a good working knowledge of the day to day business
- To ensure that the department is running smoothly, to be prepared and able to assist in any area of the department that requires support.
- To have a thorough knowledge of services and facilities available in the hotel and golf club and be able to make suggestions to guests.
- To be able to take reservations and bookings effectively
- To be trained on inputting guest requirements
- To take group reservations for large events and golfing parties.
- To ensure that the Department’s Standards of Procedures are complete, up to date and read, understood and used by all department staff.
- To be aware of, and comply with, statutory and company requirements regarding the work place such as health and safety, hygiene, fire prevention and licensing. To also be accountable for security in the department.
- Undertake any adhoc duties where required
**Customer Care**:
- Follow up and deal with any customer comments/complaints
- Maintain high levels of customer service
- Maintain communication and good relationships with other departments
**Health and Safety**:
- Understand and comply with the company’s policy on health and safety.
- Carry out duties in a safe manner having regards for the health and safety and welfare of yourself, colleagues, guests and other persons in the hotel
- Thoroughly familiarise and comply with the company’s fire evacuation procedure, and understand your responsibilities within it
**Security**:
- Ensure security of any cash/ cheque/ credit and debit transactions
- Ensure the safety of personal date for employees and guests in line with GDPR
