Headteacher and School Administrator who may delegate such direction and supervision to a member of the teaching staff of the school.

**Job Purpose**:To work with the Headteacher and School Administrator in order to maintain a safe environment for all pupils during the midday break.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**1. SUPPORT FOR PUPILS**:

- You are employed in the capacity of a midday supervisor. You are under the direction of the manager named above and are to follow all reasonable instructions or directions.
- Your hours of work are 12.00 -1.15 pm (Monday to Friday) term time only

**2. PARTICULAR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Maintain orderly conduct in the dining room and playground.
- Maintain orderly conduct in classrooms during days of inclement weather.
- Promote school policy on discipline.
- Promote school policy on equal opportunities.
- Promote school policy on health and safety.
- Promote safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Be a role model for children treating them with respect and promoting school ethics and behaviour policy.

**3. KEY TASKS**:

- Set out, clean and put away tables: sweep and clear floor of any debris
- Follow the agreed arrangements for safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all pupils
- Be discreet at all times. Maintain confidentiality.
- Control the dinner queue and the movement of children to and from the school dining area
- Be responsible for the children when they are eating and ensure that table manners and behaviour in the dining area are acceptable
- Encourage the children to keep good standards of hygiene e.g. always wash their hands after going to the toilet/before eating
- Deal with minor accidents and injuries that occur on the school premises, although if in doubt find the Headteacher or first aider
- Occupy and supervise children when they have to stay indoors
- Attend to the pupils’ personal needs, and implement related personal programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene and first aid.
- Supervise and interact with pupils in the playground to encourage purposeful play.
- Supervise and interact with pupils in the classroom during inclement weather.

- Ensure that equipment provided for activities in the classroom during inclement weather is properly treated and maintained.
- Supervise children when putting on and taking off coats in the cloakroom.
- Supervise children when collecting or returning lunch to storage areas.
- Report incidents of unacceptable behaviour to the relevant Team Leader, Deputy

Headteacher or Headteacher. Incidents may relate to pupils or staff.
- Liaise with staff regarding pupils’ excellent or inappropriate behaviour.
- Report incidents of identity based bullying to the relevant team leader. Incidents may relate to pupils or staff.
- Participate in staff training opportunities and meetings to ensure regular professional development.
- Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs.
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
- Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher / teaching assistant.
- Encourage pupils to act independently as appropriate.
- Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence.
- Report any concerns regarding safeguarding to the appropriate person.

**4. **To participate actively in supporting the principles and practice of equality of opportunity as laid down in the School’s Policy.

**5. **To take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions and to comply with all health and safety legislation as appropriate and to comply with the school health and safety Policy.

**6. **As a term of employment to carry out any other reasonable duties and/or times of work as may be reasonably required of you in accordance with the grade and general level of responsibility within the organisation.
