Job Introduction The Motor Recoveries team in Birmingham is part of our Claims Solutions Group. Our specialist team provides expert and practical advice over a range of areas:

- Subrogated Motor Recoveries
- Uninsured Loss Recoveries
- International Motor Recoveries
- Recovery of overpayments and duplicate payments
- First party recoveries
- Direct line management for direct reports, including responsibility for:

- Undertaking annual and interim appraisal discussions
- Absence management
- To ensure that new starter’s induction processes and documents are regularly reviewed and updated
- Motivating and engaging the team, as well as overseeing the well-being of the workforce
- To have a sound technical knowledge of complex and high value motor claims so that they can be the point of contact for any technical queries within the team and confidently supervise the team.
- To be directly responsible for driving and improving financial performance of their team through effective management and support;
- Specific accountability for driving performance in the following areas:

- Ensuring internal and external SLAs and KPIs are communicated, met or exceeded and the work of the team is of the highest standard
- Collective team achievement of agreed financial targets
- Ensuring that the team deliver prompt, accurate and appropriate billing
- Ensuring that Supervisors and their teams’ overall provision of MI is timely and accurate
- Ensuring that Supervisors are effectively managing, coaching and technically supervising fee earners
- Ensuring any performance or conduct issues are identified and escalated with support from your line manager
- Effective allocation of work amongst the team to meet the skills and technical knowledge of the individuals in the team, whilst ensuring work is carried out profitably for the business and client
- Involvement in recruitment activities
- Responsibility for liaising with the Team Partner and Operations Manager in relation to capacity planning
- Responsibility for encouraging innovative ideas and ensuring that a culture of continuous improvement develops
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with our clients by ensuring the team deliver a high standard of service and respond promptly to requests for information

**Who you are**
- You will ideally have a degree in Law (LLB or equivalent) or Cilex qualification and relevant legal experience
- Previous team management and / or supervision experience advantageous, previous paralegal experience required
- Keen eye for detail to ensure data produced by the team is accurate and can be used to identify trends
- Evidence of strong people management skills including the ability to motivate, coach and mentor team members at all levels
- Confident negotiator
- Have an ability to adopt a commercial perspective rather than an ‘academic’ approach to claims settlement.
- Willing to take on client opportunities whether in person or virtually
- Demonstrates alignment with the Firm’s Cultural Principles (Clear, Creative, Determined and Supportive).
