**Purpose of post**

To organise, cook and prepare a healthy balanced diet for children in our care.

**Key areas**
- Provision of food
- Hygiene, health and safety.

**Main duties**
- To be responsible for the weekly shopping list ensuring that you have sufficient ingredients to follow the settings menu and to provide food for the number of children in the setting.
- To be responsible in conjunction with the Manager and Director for planning healthy and balanced menus.
- To prepare meals according to individual dietary requirements where necessary.
- To ensure meals and snacks are safely prepared, nutritionally balanced, of good quality and appropriate in quantity following government recommendations for Early Years and Child Care Settings.
- To be clear about regulations relating to allergies and provide adequate information to parents about the contents of meals provided.
- To co-ordinate the serving of a two course tea.
- To wash-up and put away the crockery, cutlery and all equipment used to prepare meals and what has been used for dinning.
- To have effective communication systems in place to ensure appropriate information is passed on.
- To be responsible for hygiene and risk assessments within the kitchen area, including all required record keeping.
- To be responsible for food safety within the setting including all safety checks relating to food storage and preparation.
- To ensure that any member of staff entering the kitchen area follows the required rules and regulations.
- To maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen area.
- To take care of the settings laundry ensuring it is washed and dried.

Experience preferred but we can support and provide training to the right person.

Hours of work are around 20 per week, worked between 1pm and 5pm / 1.30pm and 5.30pm.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 20 per week

**Salary**: £7.76-£10.45 per hour
