**About the role**

This is an exciting opportunity to progress your career as a Construction Liability Underwriter at Allianz Insurance. As an integral member of the existing business regional team, your focus will be on profitable growth and technical excellence to deliver a world class, multi-niche insurance service. This role would also be suitable for a Property Underwriter who is looking to branch out into Construction business with full training provided to enable that to happen.

Underwriters are the first point of contact for all customers of the Engineering, Construction and Power Division. To work as part of this successful and dynamic branch, you will be customer focussed and team oriented in order to deliver an excellent customer journey.

Your main role is to meet all business targets in relation to Construction Liability products for the Northern region. The servicing of Broker and Client accounts within your own panel and ensuring you underwrite within defined parameters in a consistent and profitable manner.

**Your new role**

On a daily basis, you'll ensure customer satisfaction by building rapport and provide excellent service to external and internal customers and in the long term to ensure customer business growth and retention. You will be responsible for the delivery of profit and growth within the region via:

- Personal delivery of KPIs
- Involvement in process improvement initiatives and the delivery of strategic objectives
- Excellent customer service focus
- Demonstrating consistently high standards of behaviour across all elements of the role
- Ensuring the Region operates strictly within the parameters of Allianz Standards of Underwriting
- Underwrite existing business and mid-term adjustments including analysis and compilation of data for referral.
- Negotiate within authority and referring where appropriate to maximise customer growth including persuading, influencing and convincing customers of the benefits of an opposed course of action.
- Anticipate likely objections and build effective responses

**Skills & Experience**:
You will be able to demonstrate:

- Excellent interpersonal skills including communication and negotiation skills
- Be highly organised and demonstrate an ability to prioritise tasks accurately
- GCSE Maths and English or relevant equivalent experience.
- Practical knowledge of MS Office and MS Outlook
- A sound understanding of the UK general insurance market.
- Good knowledge of the Construction market and relevant products including Property & Casualty
- Experience of underwriting a range of Liability business
- Experience in the workings of Insurance for corporate risks
- Experience in the commercial market.
- Be a confident negotiator with strong people skills and the ability to demonstrate established broker relationships
- A good understanding of common forms of Reinsurance and EML calculation.
- Diploma CII or progress towards
