Position Summary

After focusing on the development of 5G for the past number of years, the focus is now being shifted to the next generation of technology, towards 6G. We have a variety of roles within this department at the moment and are looking for researchers to joinus as we define what the future of mobile telecoms will look like and then support in the research and development to bring that vision to reality.

The 6G Research team is responsible for research activities towards concepts and solutions for 6G technologies and communication systems. The team has a particular focus on Communication AI and next generation network architecture. We identify, develop,and demonstrate technologies internally and externally, through publications, simulations, demonstrations and intellectual property.

For the role of Communication AI Research, you will work in a team on the research and development of technologies addressing the convergence of AI and network for the next generation networks. You will have the opportunities to use your diverse set of problemsolving skills to tackle the challenges in generating innovative technologies to advance our vision of an AI-native 6G network, as well as generating research results to justify your work both technically and commercially, and position it within the widerindustry's development of 6G.

Role and Responsibilities

As a 6G Researcher on Communication AI you will:
Good understanding of the state-of-the-art Communications AI research, and be able to develop cutting edge concept, technologies, and practical software demonstrations

In-depth domain knowledge and research experience in two or more of the following areas: RAN, Core networks, edge AI, comms and computation convergence, O-RAN, xApps design, development, and validation, data

Be expected to drive, and/or contribute to new technical trends and research areas under the wide scope of Communications AI

Have technical responsibility for one or more assigned project, and ensure on-time and high-quality delivery of the project

Work closely with internal (and external) researchers and engineers to develop creative ideas and demonstrate the feasibility of these innovations

Skills and Qualifications

Ph.D in fields related to Communications or Machine Learning

Experience in developing practical technical solutions in the area of Communications AI, and demonstrated performance through proof-of-concept or product development.

Familiar with and experience of machine learning applied to telco networks, such as Federated learning, distributed learning, AI trustworthiness, AI conflict mitigation, AI efficiency

Software development using Python/C++, testing and debugging tools

Development and validation of Machine learning algorithms into a system or link level simulator

Expertise with Machine Learning libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.

Excellent communication skills, team work, proficiency in problem solving

Critical thinking, proactive, result-oriented and can-do attitude

Willing to go above and beyond to meet dynamic project requirements
