EMBS Engineering are currently seeking a Buyer to join our client's procurement team on a permanent basis.
You will be the primary support and liaison for the Production and Manufacturing departments. As a Buyer, you will play a vital role in the procurement process. You will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing high-quality materials, equipment, and services required for business operations.
As a Buyer, you will ensure that suppliers are on schedule to deliver materials and expedite orders when required. Within this role, you will purchase materials, parts, sundries and various other items.
**Essential skills**
- Proven experience as a Buyer or in a similar procurement role
- Experience of purchasing raw materials such as sheet metal, bars, billets, rods, ingots or other metal in its raw form
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms and pricing
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficient in using procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite
**Requirements within the role**
- Identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers based on quality, pricing, and delivery capabilities
- Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers, ensuring cost-effective purchases
- Prepare and issue purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Monitor supplier performance, resolve any issues or disputes, and implement corrective actions if necessary
- Stay up to date with industry trends, market conditions, and new product developments
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and alternative sources for materials and services
- Work closely with the inventory management team to optimize inventory levels and minimize stockouts
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and pricing metrics
