**Construction Instructor**

**From £23,000 p/a (Including 45 days paid holiday)**

**Accountable to**: The Headteacher and Progression 2Work Senior Leadership Team

**Job Purpose**:

- To ensure positive outcomes are achieved wherever possible across 3 elements these include Outreach, Work Experience and Hub group/1:1 Teaching support.
- To ensure good communication links with commissioning Schools, Local Authorities, students and parents.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- To lead on the planning and delivery of Construction, leading to a recognised qualification at the appropriate level for the individual student.
- To manage all tools and resources in and around the Construction area.
- To contribute to the writing of Risk Assessments for all practical activities.
- Organise and implement an individual daily programme of study by means of lesson planning (under the direction of the Headteacher), which should also encourage and allow students to work independently and as a team.
- To have input into maintaining students’ IEPs and IBPs.
- Ensure that all the policies and procedures adopted by the company are followed, ensuring that the child’s safety and welfare is addressed through the curriculum against all forms of exploitation, this includes building student’s resilience to radicalisation by promoting fundamental British values, and enabling them to challenge extremist views.
- Set clear expectations and boundaries for students, including Lesson Objectives.
- Demonstrate a consistent approach to create and sustain a controlled, orderly environment.
- Promote positive behavioural change in students who experience social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties and facilitate their inclusion back into all lessons.
- Provide written reports to the SLT as and when requested.
- To support coaching/teaching with small groups of students and 1:1 when required.
- To support students with Post 16 pathways and choices.
- Assisting with break time supervision of students.
- Supporting colleagues on off-site visits.
- Where required attend 1:1 outreach sessions within a student’s home/other public place. (following all relevant risk assessments).
- Where required attend employers’ establishments with students on Work Experience Placements (following all relevant risk assessments).
- Attend any student review on-line / face to face meetings as required.
- To ensure that lesson plans follow the scheme of work, or commissioners wishes.
- To ensure written evidence of student’s work is captured and downloaded to the company on-line platform and students’ folders.
- To support transporting students as required (following Risk Assessments).

4 GCSE Grades A-C (or equivalent) inc. Maths and English

TA Level 3 qualification

A qualification in behaviour management

**EXPERIENCE**

Significant and successful experience of working in the Construction Industry and/or delivering accredited Construction courses in an educational setting.

Significant and successful experience of working with vulnerable children including autistic and SEND in an education context

*

Experience in planning /implementing programmes of study

*

**SKILLS/AWARENESS**

Awareness of current Child Protection and Safeguarding Legislation

*

Awareness of current Health and Safety Legislation and procedures

*

Excellent time management and organisational skills

*

Good administrative skills

*

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

*

Ability to work independently, using own initiative

*

Ability to act promptly upon instruction

*

Ability to communicate at all levels, both written and verbal (with senior managers, fellow middle managers, staff and outside agencies including schools and Local Authorities)
