**Job summary**:
The UHB Staff Counselling Service is looking for a counsellor who is interested in further developing their career within the NHS. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and evolving counselling team that is looking to consolidate its reach across 4 hospital sites.

The applicant would be expected to support a hybrid model of working that the team have created - working both remotely and on-site and this has allowed the service to meet the different needs of the staff as well as the counselling team, from our learning during the pandemic. The post holder will have a good understanding and some experience delivering solution focused 1:1 counselling and will also be able to facilitate bespoke group interventions for staff across the trust.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
Must be able to manage and receive confidential, complex, sensitive and contentious information within the context of formal counselling relationships, and where appropriate communicate with the agreement of the client with other health care professionals.

To provide first line confidential workplace counselling within the codes of practice and ethics recommended by the British Association for Counselling (BACP) or The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

Facilitate the personal development needs of staff by the development and delivery of identified training programmes across a wide range of staff groups.

To advise individuals and groups on general mental health education matters, in response to perceived needs.

The post holder must be trained in and be able to operate short term brief focused interventions. Must be able to operate within the training aims of the department. To deliver solution focused practice and an overview of more effective strategies to dealing with demanding situations to members of the trust in a competent and professional manner.

To be able to contribute to building effective teamwork in exchanging views and ideas using good communication skills. Excellent knowledge and use of various Microsoft office software programmes including Word, Outlook, Excel to assist the team with producing/updating procedures and statistical database reporting.

Registered or associate member of BACP, UKCP, UKASFP or equivalent

they arise.
