Volunteer Shop Driver's Mate

**About the role**

**Purpose of the role**
To support the Shop Driver and increase the profitability of shops through, generation, efficient collection, distribution and transfer of stock (donated and new goods). To be an ambassador for Octavia, supporting and endorsing the cultural aims of the organisation.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Stock Movement (Donated, New Goods and General items )_
- Carry out the transfer of goods between shop locations alongside the Shop Driver, as directed by the Area Manager
- Move out of season, excess stock and equipment to storage, ensuring effective stock flow throughout the year
- To deliver stationary, promotional materials in a timely manner to shops
- Support new shop openings, refurbishments and shop closures in the movement and storage of stock and equipment
- Stock Generation (Donated Goods)_
- Work with the Area Manager and shop teams to identify opportunities to generate quality donated goods, including the general public, corporate partners and local businesses
- Provide reporting on stock generation activity on a regular basis
- Ensure that a standard of excellence is maintained at all times with regards to customer service
- Maximise opportunities for Gift Aid income and ask donors to sign up at the point of donating
- Health and Safety and Security_
- Ensure the security of the vehicle, equipment and stock at all times
- Carry out all tasks in accordance with Octavia Health and Safety policies and procedures
- Follow safe lifting and loading practices at all times
- Adhere to the company vehicle policy, rules and regulations
- Ensure regular service/maintenance is carried out on the company vehicle and kept clean and tidy
- Administration_
- Comply with Octavia policy in the completion and submission of documents relevant to the role e.g. accurate stock movement records collections and deliveries
- Use the technology available for reporting and communication
- Working with others_
- Maintain regular communication with the Area Manager and the Shop Driver
- Build and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships Octavia Housing staff, shop teams and external supporters
- Provide excellent customer service to all users of the service available to donors through house collections, collections from corporate, businesses, customers and shop teams
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required
- Support the effective sharing resource, including vans and equipment as required
- Be willing to work additional hours and to perform any additional duties as and when required in the business, this may involve working some weekends

**Experience**:
- Considerable driving experience including spending long periods in a vehicle is preferable
- Experience driving in a variety of conditions is preferable
- Manual handling experience
- Experience of completing paperwork
**Knowledge**:
Full driving licence and a good driving record are preferable
**Qualifications/Skills**
- Strong team working and communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Flexible attitude and adaptable to change
- Ability to work independently, using own initiative
- Ability to stay calm under pressure
- Ability to drive safely and confidently, in unfamiliar areas
