**Job description**:
**Person specification**:

- Your key responsibilities will be as follows:
- Lead and build a rapidly growing team of up to nine policy and analytical professionals
- Source and integrate specialist input from legal, commercial and technical professionals
- Coordinate with other teams on the development of other long duration energy flexibility business models (such as hydrogen storage)
- Support ministers to take an early decision on who the cap and floor delivery body will be
- Deliver a consultation response to the January 2024 LDES cap and floor consultation on high level design in Summer 2024
- Develop strong relationships with the LDES industry
- Sponsor the development of new LDES technologies through departmental innovation funding

**Skills and experience**- successfully leading a team and building team capability
- working with multiple professions and integrating their inputs into clear, deliverable and evidence-based policy options and recommendations
- strong analytical skills and commercial awareness sufficient to be able to understand and steer the development of all aspects of the team's work on the cap and floor business model (such as design methodology, duration, cap and floor definition, cost of capital definition, financial model requirements during construction, etc)
- good communication and interpersonal skills for building strong relationships with Ofgem, industry, ministers and other relevant teams in government
- a self-starter who is able to lead a team fairly autonomously while providing clear regular updates to seniors and taking on board steers
- while not essential, experience in one or more of the following areas would be an advantage: the energy sector, business model development, commercial decision-making
