Building Supervisor

We are looking for an experienced Buildings Maintenance Supervisor to organise and manage maintenance work and manage small to medium sized projects up to the value of £200k across our West Oxfordshire portfolio. Based out of the Coleshill Estate Office, we are happy to explore and agree a hybrid working arrangement, which strikes the right balance for you and the Trust.
Working on residential, commercial and agricultural properties, as well as holiday cottages, you will consistently be developing and managing productive working relationships with contactors. This is a supervisory role and you will not be “on the tools”. With a solid working history and practical understanding of property maintenance of listed and old buildings, you will be able to diagnose problems and find solutions across the wide and varied scope of work.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity offering a salary of £40,885 (inclusive of a £4,885 reviewable market supplement).
What it's like to work here:Reporting into the Senior Building Surveyor, you will be part of a very busy and highly professional team consisting of Estate Managers, Rural Surveyors, Building Surveyors, Letting Officers and an Estate Management Officer. You will of course also develop your skills and knowledge of maintaining and repairing historic and listed buildings.
- What you'll be doing:Undertaking on site surveys across the portfolio to identify and prioritise schemes of repairs and improvements.
- Liaising with the wider team to ensure planned works are delivered within agreed timeframes and budgets.
- Producing work schedules and obtaining quotes from contractors.
- Liaising with tenants to ensure works are planned and coordinated around their business and farming operations and they are informed and kept up to date throughout the process.
- Engaging contractors and managing the works through to completion, ensuring risk assessments are undertaken, and all work is compliant with the relevant legislation and policies.
- Who we're looking forExperience of undertaking surveys and inspections, diagnosing building defects and specifying appropriate remedial works to traditional buildings, following best practice
- Confident communicator who is able to adjust their approach to ensure we build and maintain positive relationships with our tenants.
- Experience of delivering agreed work programs/projects within budget relating to building structures and services
- Building materials and techniques knowledge for historic and listed buildings
- Strong understanding of let buildings and structures regulations to ensure compliance and manage risk
- Ability to manage and develop new and existing relationships with contractors IT skills. Confident in using MS Office suite, Property Computer systems -Horizon and navigating financial management systems
