Provide an efficient and effective reception service to patients, staff and visitors. To meet and greet all arrivals in a professional and customer/patient centred approach

**You will work 22.5 hours a week over 5 shifts,** Monday to Sunday, due to this the shifts **work on** a rota system so they will vary week on week.**
**Any weekend shifts will be deemed unsociable hours and there will have an increase in the hourly rate should you work them.**

**What you'll be doing**:
As a Ward Receptionist at Practice Plus Group Shepton Mallet you will provide a comprehensive receptionist service to the unit ensuring that all patients are treated in a professional and courteous manner, endorsing the patient centred approach of the team.
Above all, you have a natural ability to help make the lives of others more fulfilling and want to work in an environment where the work can be hard, but also fun and rewarding.
Working collaboratively within both the Admin and ward team
Carrying out clerical duties associated with the admission/transfer and discharge of patients.
Updating the bed state on a daily basis.
Answering the telephone and follow an agreed procedure when receiving or giving messages. No clinical advice is to be given.
To maintain legible records, update electronic PROMS and National Joint registry.
Ensuring patients medical records are available as and when required. This includes collecting them and refilling back Medical records racking.
Communicating responsibly and with courtesy to other departments ensuring that records of communications are kept when instructions have been given.
Inputting data for the purpose of statistics and audits as requested and agreed with the Administration and ward manager.
Arranging out-patient follow up appointments and transport as required.
Representing the ward in the daily safety brief if the Clinical team are unable to attend and then feedback any relevant information to the Nurse in Charge.
**What we’ll look for in you**:
You will be experienced in dealing with the public, both in person and over the phone, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to manage difficult situations in a calm manner.
Your previous experience of working in a reception role in a healthcare or service sector will be invaluable but just as important is your ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, work flexibly and prioritise your own workload when under pressure.
**You will have**:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to stay calm in difficult circumstances.
- Comfortable working using your initiative, follow instructions and prioritise a busy workload
- Strong communication skills (Written and Phone)
- Substantial reception experience in Healthcare or service sector
