**Job Title**:BMUS Marketing and Communications Officer

**Salary**:£24,000 (pro rate to 21hrs £14,400)

**Working Hours**: 21hrs per week, these hours will predominantly be worked Mon - Fri 9-5.

**Location**: Central Milton Keynes.

**Work Base**: Office based, however the opportunity for flexible working is available.

**Main Purpose of the Role**

1. To co-ordinate and promote the marketing of all BMUS activities including educational events, membership promotion and professional standards.

2. To keep up to date the BMUS Website and Social Media Accounts.

3. To support BMUS to meet its charitable aims through support of the BMUS Committee Structure

4. To support the office team in the delivery of educational events.

**Main duties**

**1. To co-ordinate and promote the marketing of all BMUS activities including educational events,**

**membership promotion and professional standards**

Devise and implement annual marketing plans for BMUS Study days, the Annual Scientific

Meeting, and Membership Benefits.

Devise short term marketing plans for new Professional Standards, BMUS Statements and

Guidance documents including press releases for trade press.

Ensure all events are promoted through relevant trade press or partner associations.

Produce the BMUS quarterly newsletter ‘BMUS News’ with the support of BMUS Officers and the Operations and Development Manager.

Produce the ‘BMUS weekly E-newsletter ‘Ultrapost’ develop this tool to meet our members needs.

Design marketing adverts, flyers, literature and information to be printed and distributed.

**2. To keep up to date the BMUS Website and Social Media Accounts**

To be responsible for reviewing and updating the BMUS website ensuring information is accurate and current.

To ensure information on the BMUS website is presented in a consistent and user-friendly fashion.

To lead on the BMUS social media platforms, ensuring content is well managed and appropriate.

That posts are engaging and informative.

**3. To support BMUS to meet its charitable aims through support of the BMUS Committee**

**Structure**

Organise and support the BMUS Professional Standards Group by liaising with the chair to produce agendas and supporting paperwork, distribute in a timely manner, take notes and arrange future meeting dates.

**4. To support the office team in delivery educational events**

Attend larger study days to support the registration desk and running of these events.

Work with the BMUS Operations and Development Manager to produce the Annual Scientific

Meeting (ASM) programme.

Work with the Operations and Development Manager to produce, and populate the Annual

Scientific Meeting event App.

Attend the Annual Scientific Meeting and support the Operation and Development Manager with the running of the educational programme.

**5. Other Duties**

BMUS is a small office team, at times there maybe requirements to help other members of staff with their roles during busy periods or times of annual leave.

BMUS Events are held across the country and there will be a requirement to travel to these the evening before an event to ensure the team is in place for first thing in the morning.

The BMUS Annual Scientific Meeting is held in early December. This event requires the whole office team to be away for 5 days. The additional hours worked will be given as time in lieu.

**Person Specification**

**Essential Desirable**

English GCSE grade A-C or equivalent. A recognised higher qualification in marketing and promotions.

Ability to communicate information accurately, Demonstrable experience of undertaking concisely and have good interpersonal skills in a marketing initiatives and experience and
‘team’ environment. knowledge of marketing and promotions techniques.

Excellent written communication skills including Experience of supporting meetings and events press releases, meeting notes and promotional ensuring a smooth experience content

Ability to work under pressure, manging Experience of using design and marketing tools multiple projects simultaneously and to such as InDesign, Canva and marketing deadlines automation platform

Excellent, demonstrable IT skills including use of programme such as Microsoft

Ability to work co-operatively in a team as well as using own initiative, with a commitment to delivering the organisations aims and objectives

Experience and understanding of social media platforms and online marketing and communications methods

BMUS Communications and Marketing
