Diesel Fitter/mechanic

**Brief Description of the Job**:
**Location based in Mallusk**

The Vehicle Maintenance Technician will work on a broad range of commercial vehicles and trailers. Based in our new premises in Mallusk Newtownabbey you will be a qualified and experienced commercial mechanic, working as part of a small team you will be required to demonstrate excellent communication skills and have a positive attitude to your work as is the ability to adapt to an ever changing environment. You will report directly to the owner of the business.

**Maintenance Duties; this list is not exhaustive**
- Execute all planned and defect maintenance and repairs across a wide range of commercial vehicles and trailers
- Carry out fault diagnostics and fault finding as required
- Full C&E License to enable you to collect and deliver vehicles from other sites for maintenance and testing would be desirable
- Be available for unplanned call outs and weekend working when required
- Ensure vehicle maintenance scheduled work is carried out in a timely fashion and recorded on the companies database.
- Be fully involved in all training and development requirements in an ongoing basis
- Have the ability to constantly change in line with company and legislative requirements
- Ensuring that any deferred work has been recorded and is completed in a timely fashion.
- Supports internal and external audits
- Works as part of a team to ensure the scheduling and execution of all vehicle and trailer maintenance is completed to high standards and using best operating practice.
- Ensure effective allocation and recording of imprest parts and associated part stock.
- Minimise customer vehicle downtime
- Support continuous improvement
- Comply with all Health and Safety Standards and regulations
- Any other duty associated with the role of a V.M.T

**Criteria**:

- A Qualified mechanic certified by C&G or similar
- At least five years experience in a commercial workshop across a wide range of vehicles
- A HGV class E+C is desirable as would ADR certification
- Experienced in using diagnostics systems
- Experience of working in a hazardous commercial vehicle environment would be beneficial
- Hydraulic systems and tail lift experience would be advantageous
- An initiative to prioritise own duties and ability to work alone.
- Good aptitude for planning and problem solving
- Computer literate, specifically;
- MS Office (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, access etc.) and SAP desirable
- Good analytical & problem-solving skills
- Personable attitude and ability to take instruction and work on own initiative

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £14.00-£16.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Overtime

Supplemental pay types:

- Yearly bonus
