**The Role**:
The Health & Safety Officer plays a vital role in advising and supporting the Trust to minimise workplace accidents and promote a positive health & safety culture. This position ensures compliance with health & safety legislation and industry best practices across the organisation.

**Main objectives**:

- Promote a positive health and safety culture within the Trust.
- Provide expert advice and support on various health and safety topics to ensure legal compliance and best practices.
- Monitor changes in health and safety legislation and recommend policy and procedural updates accordingly.
- Conduct workplace audits and inspections, draft reports, and develop action plans based on findings.
- Maintain the Trust’s online accident and near miss reporting system and analyse trends to advise on remedial actions.
- Assist with serious or complex accident investigations and report to relevant authorities when necessary.
- Develop and deliver training programs on health and safety topics.
- Draft and review health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external partners, and regulatory bodies.

The role requires a full driving license, as extensive travel around wildlife reserves is a fundamental aspect of the position. Flexibility in working hours is necessary to accommodate the demands of the role and ensure effective oversight of health and safety protocols across various locations.

The Trust manages a network of around 120 wildlife reserves across Scotland and is a member of the UK-wide Wildlife Trusts movement.
