**Primary Job Purpose**:

- To act in a Second Line of Defence role reporting to the Chief Credit Officer.
- Responsibility for the management of Stage 3 Watchlist cases, with a view to minimising losses. Whether this be via recovery or restructuring of debt.
- This is a hand on client facing role and the holder will be required to meet clients /lawyers /other professional advisers.
- The role holder will be expected to have a strong portfolio oversight of all Watch list potential problem debt exposures, reporting to AL ‘Potential & Problem Debt Management Committee’ (“PPDMC”) in line with the relevant ToR.
- The role holder will be expected to act as a Subject Matter Expert “SME” in relation to providing advice and guidance to any third party service provider as well as bankers, credit underwriters and senior management in relation to restructuring and recovery strategies where such action is deemed necessary. This may also include supporting the bankers in client engagement with Watch list clients where deemed appropriate.
- This role will also have line management responsibilities, for members of the small Restructuring & Recovery team.

**Secondary purpose**:

- To act as an advisor in the context of “lessons learned” as part of any Business Appetite statement reviews.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- To proactively manage the bank’s Stage 3 Watchlist book with a view to minimising any potential loss to the bank, whilst ensuring we manage clients in a responsible manner in line with regulatory guidance.
- To liaise with senior bank executive on recovery strategies providing recommendation on appropriate options and progress.
- Support the Credit Underwriting Team in agreeing strategies for Watch List credit facilities within business agreed appetite/policy and delegated authority framework.
- Review, analysis and formulation of initial and subsequent recommendations on Stage 3 Watchlist cases in accordance with the Credit Committee Terms of Reference.
- Day to day management of Stage 3 Watchlist clients in the core AL book; including, regular reviews of progress against sanctioned exit strategies, account maintenance and client conversations.
- Support the Bankers and Business Support Unit on occasion in their interactions with Stage 2 Watch clients or where specifically instructed take ownership of the day to day management of Stage 1 and/or 2 Watch clients.
- Management of the performance of external recovery specialists such as LPA Receivers in line with the Receivers Appointment Framework, as well as valuers engaged on Stage 3 Watchlist cases.
- Where requested provide expert input into restructuring and recovery cases for our subsidiary businesses.
- Ensure that requisite number of approval signatures are obtained on each Credit Application.
- To work closely with the Chief Credit Officer, Head of Credit Underwriting and Head of Credit Portfolio and Assurance to ensure a that Credit Risk function operates in a seamless fashion.
- To assist the Chief Credit Officer with submission and update of Policies, Processes and Procedures related to Problem Debt Management, Arrears and Repossessions.
- Maintenance and reconciliation with Finance of the Watch List data base and providing oversight to ensure that the strategies are updated on a quarterly basis.
- In line with the Policy, ensure quarterly meetings are held with the business to discuss and agree action plans for exposures on the Watchlist.
- To provide recommendations to Potential & Problem Debt Management Committee on time to collect and probability of defaults.
- Maintain Portfolio oversight of the overall Watch List lending exposures, organising and providing updates to PPDMC at quarterly intervals, and /or adhoc meetings as circumstances dictate.
- To assist with the annual review and quarterly updates on the Credit Risk RCSA.
- Liaise with the Finance function on arrears reporting, provisioning and assist with the annual external audit process.
- Manage risks inherent to the role by diligently observing internal policies and procedures (_applicable to all roles_.)

**Secondary responsibilities**:_ _

Act as both lead and support on projects both within the Credit department and across the wider Bank on credit and risk related activities /initiatives, as directed by the Chief Credit Officer.**Key Interfaces**
- Multiple stakeholders in all departments, first/second and third lines of defence across Arbuthnot Latham including Business, ManCo and ABG Group Directorate.
- Third party interfaces expected to include lawyers / accountants /valuers / auditors, third party service providers and potentially regulators.
