Under the direction of the site Production Manager, responsible for ensuring manpower and materials are organised and directed safely and effectively within the production areas, maximising available resources to deliver agreed production schedules, in line with business objectives.


**Location**: Hilcote, Derbyshire

**Salary**: £32,358 pa

**Hours**:24/7 shift pattern, 2x days (7am - 7pm), 2x nights (7pm - 7am), 4 days off


**The role**:

- Organising the people and resource within the manufacturing area, ensuring the right number of people with the right competence are available for work at the right time.
- Monitoring safety, quality and production versus agreed target, implementing corrective actions as required.
- Act as the central point of communication on shift, directing staff to the shift priorities as agreed with production planners, focussing on adherence to schedule. Communicate KPI’s to all team members and using your coaching skills, work with them to improve, using problem solving techniques to get to root cause and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
- Identify skills gaps, highlighting training requirements and design development plans to upskill the team and drive succession planning.
- Ensuring production documentation is completed on time and is accurate.
- Resolving issues as they arise on shift through effective use of site resources and your people skills.
- Promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for all, actively,
- Ensuring we have safe system of work and risk assessments for all operations. promoting incident reporting, conducting appropriate accident investigations to find root cause and prevent reoccurrence. Guiding staff to safety in the event of an emergency, and acting as emergency director when required.
- Ensure that standardised practices and procedures are followed and where appropriate make recommendations to introduce system improvements.
- Work towards developing key skills that will assist with the effective management of people including performance management, absence management etc.
- Contribute to the development of the organisation through active involvement in team meetings, objectives, project work, training and communications.
- Leading line side Gemba walks engaging with operators to understand any problems, then pulling in other departments as needed to resolve issues.

- A good level of education is required, with a minimum of NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent.
- Possesses the ability to lead and motivate a team of individuals.
- Full working knowledge of all aspects of the production process.
- Demonstrate of working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of manpower management systems within a manufacturing environment is essential.
- A self motivated individual with the flexibility to adapt and a willingness to develop new skills.
- Excellent time management skills
- 5 years demonstrable experience in a similar manufacturing environment. The incumbent must demonstrate team leadership and development, problem analysis, problem solving and process improvement skills.
- Able to deal with arising issues and solving them in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Safety awareness is essential with experience of safe systems of work.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, both in terms of keeping people informed and providing constructive feedback.
- Able to make a positive contribution to the organisation.
- Have a passion for manufacturing and attention to detail in all tasks completed.
- Ability to work flexibly, with the needs of the business.
- Must have experience of coaching and developing a team, providing expertise in process improvement techniques to achieve business objectives

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
