Bedford, United Kingdom East London NHS Foundation Trust Full time

ELFT CAMHS is a well-established multidisciplinary service that provides a comprehensive stepped model of care for children, young people and their families in the locality. The service compromises teams of clinicians that currently includes Psychiatry, Clinical Psychology Systemic Family Therapy, Community Mental Health Nurses and a variety of other key psychological therapy and clinical disciplines.

As well as providing specialist psychological interventions as part of the Neurodevelopmental Team (NDT), the IAPT practitioner will develop behavioural interventions that are focussed on the needs of the child and act as a care co-ordinator to ensure that the needs of the child and family are met. The NDT works with children and young people with moderate and severe learning disabilities, and those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Condition, and their carers and families.

This role offers an opportunity to be part of a dynamic and evolving psychological therapies service. The post holder would contribute to the development of the clinical service provision within Bedford’s Neurodevelopmental Team (NDT).

The role represents an opportunity for experienced IAPT Practitioners who are committed to this model to move to develop their careers and gain clinical experience.

The team is part of Bedfordshire CAMHS which is a large, dynamic and successful CAMHs service comprising of 2 emotional and behavioural teams, a LAC team, a CAMHs schools team, a parent-infant psychotherapy team, a paediatric team, a GP team, an adolescent mental health team, a crisis team and an eating disorders service. We also have embedded workers in Early Help, CDC and social care. We offer regular opportunities for staff to undertake individualized CPD, and we provide opportunities for staff wishing to ‘act up’ into more senior roles on occasion.

**The post-holder will**:

- Hold a qualification (Post grad dip/cert) in CYP IAPT Therapy
- Have demonstrable experience of working therapeutically with neurodiversity for those up to the age of 18 and their families.
- Offer an adapted approach to evidence-based therapeutic practice that benefits the individual needs of the child and their families.
- Have demonstrable experience of developing and providing behavioural interventions that are based on the principles of positive behavioural support (PBS).
- Develop, support and train innovative practice to trainee IAPT psychological well-being Practitioners and other staff members as appropriate. Given the supervisory components to the post, we are looking for qualified IAPT Practitioners with at least one year post qualification experience who are enthusiastic and excited to offer adapted CBT with passion, and to develop these qualities and skills in others.
- This role will also involve care co-ordination. It will also involve community working and liaison with external agencies, such as social care and education.
- The post holder will work with children and young people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary.
- The post holder will line manage trainee IAPT practitioners under the direction of the principle psychologist.
