As a Shift Station Commander you will be responsible to coordinate and manage the operational activities of your respective shift teams across a number of major top tier COMAH sites on Teesside.
- To lead, manage and develop the Crew Commander, Site Protection Officer and Logistics teams across Teesside.

- To manage the daily operations of the Emergency Control Room
- Ensure effective communication and awareness of all incidents.
- Ensure compliance with Control Room and external authority procedures.
- Develop competencies of staff
- To be responsible for short term manpower and equipment planning and resourcing
- Ensuring adequate skills and competencies are maintained on a daily basis.
- Ensuring that equipment is maintained at a constant state of readiness.
- Developing short term resource interfaces
- Deliver customer operational interface for exercising and customer requests.
- To manage and audit internal standards and competencies.
- Carry out regular on shift audits.
- Deliver annual training programme.
- Carry out annual training needs analysis.
- Create a culture within the shift team that encourages a proactive partnership approach to problem solving.
- Ensure compliance with Protection Group SHE Programme including but not restricted to:

- Carry out planned General Inspection
- Contractor audits
- Protection Group Shift vehicle/equipment inspections
- To liaise at an operational level with customers and external emergency services
- To be familiar with and understand Protection Group changing contractual/commercial requirements.
- Contracts
- Service Goods Request forms
- Management of any PPU deployments for Teesside core customers.
- Equipment is deliver for operational maintenance and appropriate documentation is completed.
- To integrate and support the Emergency Planning team to meet customer demands and develop.
- Own competencies within ECC
- The dimensions of the job require a flexible approach to working hours and the location for work.
- May require periods outside of Teesside on project-based work.
- To be part of the Protection Group Emergency Management Response Team on a 24 hour per day call out system.

The dimensions of the job also require a flexible approach to working hours and an on-call commitment.

**Skills and Qualifications**

**Essential**:

- Proven track record of management of incidents on top tier COMAH sites
- Demonstrable experience in Emergency Response
- Demonstrable experience in Crew Commander level
- SIA Licensed
- Strong Leadership skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office IT packages
- Physically fit for operational duties
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- A high concern for efficiency
- High level of communication skills
- Good time manager with tenacity and ability to work under pressure.
- A high concern for standards
- A high concern for detail
- Initiative and strong self-motivation
- Excellent interpersonal skills

**Desirable**:

- A recognised accredited management qualification to Diploma standard
- JOIFF Accredited Incident Commander qualification
- Graduate of the Institute of Fire Engineers
- Emergency Medical Technician and Pre-Hospital Trauma Management training
- NEBOSH accreditation
- Fire Investigation
- JOIFF Incident control qualifications
- Training and development in this role could lead to opportunities in the operational or technical day management organisation.

**Selection Event and Interviews expected to take place Weeks Commencing: 1st April & 8th April 2024. This will include a physical assessment.**

Salary dependent on Experience. SDA: £6557.40 per annum.
