Mobile Plant Operator

Mobile Plant Operator required for a busy waste recycling plant based in Fleetwood. Lancashire Waste Recycling are one of the UK’s leading alternative fuel producers. We are committed to sustainability and strive to minimise the amount of waste that ends up in landfill by transforming it into valuable resources wherever possible.

We currently have vacancies to join our small, dedicated team where you’ll play a key role in ensuring our site runs at full capacity whilst gaining new skills and broadening your knowledge.

Main duties include:

- Operating mobile plant such as loading shovels, 360 material handlers, telehandlers and FLTs. You will be operating this equipment to handle non-hazardous waste materials in a safe and efficient manner.
- Daily machine checks for fluid and oils as necessary to maintain them in optimum working condition, along with reporting any defects.
- General tasks on equipment such as lubricating, refuelling, and cleaning machinery.
- General cleaning tasks as required.
- Basic maintenance as required.

What are we looking for?
- Licence to include loading shovel and/or 360 grab (full training can be given but at least one of these licences preferred).
- Experience using FLT, telehandler, and cherry picker desirable.
- Waste experience desirable.
- Have a proven track record of working in a comparable role.
- Have a proven ability of driving heavy mobile plant.
- Experience loading trailers using loading shovel.
- Be capable of conducting basic maintenance including but not exclusive to greasing, oiling, and fuelling of plant.
- Be mechanically minded, practical with a good attitude to housekeeping and cleanliness.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Have the ability to think logically.
- Have the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Have a flexible and adaptable manner.

Alongside your hourly rate you will receive 28 days holiday (inclusive of bank holidays), company pension, opportunities for development and be eligible for the company’s 10% monthly bonus scheme. Weekends, overtime, and bank holiday shifts are paid at an enhanced rate.

Hours of work:
Monday - Friday 10 hour shift plus every other Saturday

Hourly rate £11-£13.50 per hour dependent on experience
