BI Data Engineer (Power BI, Azure) responsible for modernisation projects alongside dashboards and reporting
A major international industrial organisation are looking to add a BI Data Engineer to their Business Intelligence unit, to be involved in the modernisation of their practices and technologies, whilst working alongside senior stakeholders to understand theirkey requirements, existing data sources and to present back options that they believe will have the data tell the story. As the organisation transitions to PowerBI, the BI Data Engineer will assist in not only the technology transition but the moving awayof 'flat file' reports, to data presentations that are focused on dashboards with drill-throughs that allow the business partners to monitor by exception and to, at a quick glance, understand what the data is saying.
**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Gather business requirements for enhancement, customisation's and develop technical requirement documents. Should be able to provide solution technically
- Prepare estimates based upon the custom requirement and project schedules.
- Engage in business meetings to understand and review the feasibility of the business requirements.
- Responsible for gap analysis of functional flows, provide solution design, perform POCs and demo for the Gaps solution from standard solution sets as well customised solutions.
- Should be able to analyse current ETL process, define and design new systems
- Should have Azure Data Factory experience.
- Should be able to redefine and make technical/strategic changes to enhance existing Business Intelligence systems
- Display proficiency with the Power-BI & Microsoft-BI tools.
- Involve in post implementation support to provide solution for production issues or for any other maintenance activities which might also involve change management process.
- Test and document all code changes. This includes Unit Testing, component integration testing, system integration testing, and performance testing, capacity testing and quality reviews

We're looking for an individual who is expertly skilled within **Power BI**, including the implementation from a project and technical perspective. Experience with **Azure Data Lake storage**and its associated technologies **(Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory)**is required. Please see the full list of requirements below. - Understanding in writing SQL code, and excellent skills in writing DAX scripts.
- Understanding of data visualisation strategies used to tell a story through dashboards.
- Experience with maintaining data documentation.
- Should have experience in Azure Data Lake Storage
- Experience implementing Azure Data Factory Pipelines using latest technologies
- Experience working with On-premises Data Gateway, data integration, self-service data preparation.
- Experience working in a Azure Synapse environment.
- Strong T-SQL skills with experience in Azure SQL DW
- DevOps Pipelines (CI/CD) and Automation experience
- Good Knowledge in Data Warehousing & Data Modeling concepts
- Good Knowledge on Unit testing and migrating BI objects
- Good understanding of the processes of data quality, data cleansing and data transformation.
- Experience manipulating and analysing large volumes of data.
- Fact driven and analytically-minded with excellent attention to detail. Strong business acumen.
- Excellent problem solving, Critical and Analytical thinking skills
