An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to work within our busy Pharmacy Technical Services sector. This service covers the manufacture and assembly of special medicines both sterile and non
- sterile, and the preparation of medicines used within the treatment of cancer. This post will require the successful applicate to work in one or more areas within technical services.

You should ideally have some experience of supervising / co-ordinating staff and workflow.
You must be flexible and react positively to change with the ability to work in different areas within the Pharmacy Technical Service environment. You must be able to follow written procedures, work under supervision and complete tasks accurately to set deadlines. Good fitness and dexterity are essential for working in our cleanrooms. This role will involve providing specialist support to the Technical Services team and includes supervising, training and mentoring staff, Assisting in managing stock control as well as the manufacturing and assembly of various pharmaceuticals.

- To assemble and decontaminate raw materials and associated consumables using validated spraying and wiping procedures.
- Prepare intravenous chemotherapy medication for patients in accordance with all procedures, methods and instructions.
- To supervise, assist in training and work with Pharmacy Assistants and student technicians
- To oversee and participate in the cleaning of specialist areas
- Handling and use of specialist chemicals in accordance with COSHH guidelines.
- Assisting with routine quality assurance testing in the preparation unit.
- To participate in the ward stock top-up service provided by the department
- To act as a mentor for new staff (as required) by providing guidance and support on their first weeks of employment or when rotating into a new department.
- To be responsible for the movement of raw materials and disposables between the Pharmacy store and the Chemotherapy Preparation Unit (CPU)
- To deliver products to departments within the Trust as necessary
- To regularly complete and pass all required validation and competency tests to comply with the Pharmacy QA program
- To undertake stock control maintenance, expiry date checking, stock rotation and returns, report back discrepancies to Senior Technician as required.
- To undertake dispensing duties including booking stock out and label generation, using the computer and dispensing of medicines into appropriate containers
- Assisting with routine quality assurance testing in the preparation unit
