An exciting opportunity has arisen for a temporary 4 day post until 1st July 2024 as a Family Group Conference Co-ordinator (FGC), to join Lancashire County Council's busy FGC and Lifelong links team. A challenging yet satisfying role. This post is part of a county wide service across Lancashire.
The aim of a family group conference is to give families and their children/young people a central role in decision making. Every family is unique with its own culture, personalities, personal dynamics, and history. The decision makers at a family group conference are the family members/kinship network. Together they plan and decide how to resolve the situation. This empowers families to make the best plan possible for their children.
**What you will need:
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent childcare qualification and will have varied experience of working with children and families at times of distress and conflict.
- Direct experience of working with children on a 1-1 using a variety of methods.
- A proven ability to practice in a strength-based approach to empower families in working towards change that promotes the safety and welfare of their children.
- Knowledge of relevant childcare legislation.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Direct experience of working with hard-to-reach children, young people and their families.
- Sound knowledge and experience of safeguarding in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Competent IT skills.
- Excellent communication, written and listening skills.
Flexible working is essential which includes evenings, to meet the needs of children and young people and their families.
This position is part time, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent, the salary received will be paid on a pro-rata basis.
