StocktononTees, United Kingdom North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust Full time

You will be a HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist, with experience of working with adults with acquired communication difficulties. You will ideally have experience working with swallowing disorders with post basic dysphagia competencies, or be working towards completion of this.

You will provide specialist assessment and management to adults with a diverse range of communication and swallowing disorders associated with a range of clinical conditions, including (but not limited to) long term neurological conditions, dementia and stroke. This role is predominantly based within the community, including domiciliary visits and clinic sessions, but there could be opportunity for sessions in other clinical areas if this is of interest. There will be the option to be involved in planning and delivering training to other professionals. An interest in providing and supporting group sessions would be an advantage.

You will work in a small, forward thinking adult speech and language therapy service that provides acute and community services across Stockton and Hartlepool localities. This role will involve working with a busy clinical caseload, working independently and as part of a team.

At North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust our main priority is, and always be, to provide safe and high quality care to our patients every day; the kind of care we would want for ourselves and our loved ones.
We want the best staff working in our organisation to ensure that we deliver exceptional patient care and experience.

We want the right staff, in the right roles at the right time and we want our organisation to be the best place to work.

We will support staff through providing an inclusive and supportive workplace with health and well-being initiatives, staff benefits and opportunities for personal and professional development.

We provide a range of benefits and schemes to support staff health, well-being and inclusive engagement. Staff recognition is very important to us.

We actively encourage staff involvement with staff networking events and staff survey.

“Together we are North Tees & Hartlepool”

You will provide high quality, evidence based assessment and treatment to adults with swallowing disorders and a diverse range of communication disorders in a community setting. This could involve domiciliary visits and clinic settings. We are keen to explore group therapy, and an interest in this would be an advantage.

You will be able to plan, implement and evaluate individualised therapy plans to meet the needs of patients with support as required from clinical lead therapists.

You will be able to plan and deliver training and supervision to team members, other professionals, carers, volunteers etc, involved in the care of a patient, with support as required from the lead therapist.

This post will provide opportunities to develop specialist clinical skills, and opportunity to work with a range of clinical conditions, including long term neurological or progressive conditions, and dementia.

Due to the nature of the role, the ability to travel independently across the locality is essential.

We would welcome informal visits to find out more about our team and the role. To find out more or to arrange an informal visit, please contact Catherine Walker, Operational Lead for Adult Speech and Language Therapy on 01429 522471.
