Our Pension Administration Business was established in 1993 and our core business is the provision of services to trustees of UK occupational pension schemes DB, DC, CARE, cash balance - and we will do this as a stand-alone “admin-only” appointment or in conjunction with services provided by other Barnett Waddingham practice areas.

We are looking to recruit two enthusiastic people to join our Liverpool Pension Administration team. These vacancies have been created due to the progression of other more established members of the team so would suit a recent college or university leaver or somebody with a bit of office administration experience seeking to develop a career within financial services. We encourage our pension administrators to study for a professional pensions qualification and support them fully with this and full desk-based training will also be provided. We currently have more than 40 pensions specialists within this office, who undertake a broad range of pension-related tasks so you would be joining an experienced team.

**What do Pension Administrators Do?**

Pension administrators are responsible for the day-to-day administration of pension schemes and make sure that new and existing customers' policies are accurately maintained and serviced. Whether you have pension administration experience already or are looking to move in to it, we have a structured training programme where you will be supported in your learning.

This is a permanent position and will be worked under our SmartWorking framework where you will share your time between the office and home (2 - 3 days per week). This role will be located at our Liverpool office with hybrid home-working.

**Our Liverpool office**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Prepare computer generated benefit calculations and related correspondence
- Maintain the member database
- Communicate with clients, their members and advisers
- Carry out cash handling functions for client pension and related arrangements, liaising with bank and investment managers as appropriate
- Process client pensioner payrolls, including calculation of net pay, arranging payments, liaison with tax offices
and preparation of year end returns
- Liaise with authorities including DWP, HMRC, The Pensions Regulator and the Information Commissioner
- Read and understand documentation relating to each scheme
- Prepare manual calculations to develop an understanding of pensions
- Carry out member activities in line with agreed service levels
- Assist with project based work, as agreed

Qualifications:
As a minimum, Maths and English at GCSE level (or equivalent) grade 5 / C or above but ideally educated to A-Level or beyond

**Skills and Experience**
- Must have strong attention to detail and the desire to provide a very high level of service
- As this role will involve preparing manual pensions calculations, you should be comfortable working with figures
- Ideally, we would like to see some office-based experience and especially that gained within financial services but this it not essential - what is more important is the desire to build a career within financial services and the enthusiasm to learn new skills and tasks
- If you have some pension administration experience already - perhaps up to 12 months' (defined benefit or defined contribution) we would still be happy to receive your CV.
- Familiar and confident using MS Office: Outlook, Word and Excel
