In this role you’ll be providing strategic communications and engagements advice to the Enterprise Collaboration Team within DDTS. You'll partner with colleagues within the Change Awareness and Adoption team and the wider business. You’ll be developing communications and engagement strategies, plans, and products to support the organisation with critical projects that will deliver increased collaboration capability across Defra.

You’ll be accountable for delivering communications strategies and actions from an internal perspective and project delivery communications. You will work with senior stakeholders to influence, develop and implement strategies actions and a suite of products. As a trusted advisor you will contribute to strengthening the reputation of DDTS and Defra group. And as such, improving the experience of staff, customers and stakeholders using our services.

You will be linked in with an internal network of contacts. Gathering insight on current attitudes, perceptions and how internal communications activities across DDTS have been received by Defra group. With a view to make continuous improvements to communication and engagement plans to meet business goals. You’ll be delivering communications and engagement activities that align with our DDTS strategy by planning and managing communication activity.

You’ll ensure the comprehensive evaluation of communication activities and deliverables and act on insights through continuous improvement.

**Responsibilities**
- Designing, delivering and evaluating internal communications strategies and products to support the Enterprise Collaboration portfolio
- Ensuring information is appropriate or tailored for the correct audience
- Working autonomously to lead day to day comms operations and managing activities without support from Senior Managers
- Leading day to day operations and problem solving with responsibility for large areas of activity across geographically dispersed teams
- Work collaboratively with teams across the Defra group to ensure key messages are joined up
- Being a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders across an allocated portfolio of activity
- Presenting communication options and recommendations and influencing and persuading Senior Managers and Directors on a frequent basis
- Proactively managing the delivery of key communication and engagement activity, including targeted content and events that influence and enhance the organisation’s reputation

**Skills and experience**
- Designing and delivering effective internal communications plans based on IT change with significant experience of using insight to inform activity
- Experience of developing and delivering successful communications within large, geographically dispersed organisations who are working remotely
- Experience in a similar role - highly skilled in producing and designing engaging and effective content
- Experience in using metrics and user feedback to define, evaluate, and improve content
- Experience of making immediate decisions in rapidly changing environments or working to very tight deadlines
- Expertise of digital technology to be proactive in anticipating issues and addressing underlying causes
- Experience of working at all levels within an organisation and experience of challenging senior grades to deliver better communication outcomes
