The Collection is one of the largest and most important art collections in the world. It comprises almost all aspects of the fine and decorative arts, runs to more than a million objects and is spread among5 royal residences and former residences across the UK.
The Royal Household is looking for a motivated and creative individual who would be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the exhibition programme in support of Royal Collection Trust’s charitable aims to increase public access and engagement with the collection.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Lead and manage the planning and delivery of exhibitions, temporary displays and other projects in support of RCT’s charitable aims of providing access to the collection and deepening appreciation and understanding.
- Collaborate with colleagues across RCT and the wider Household to ensure exhibitions reflect all areas of the collection, are effectively coordinated and delivered with financial, audience and exhibition objectives achieved.
- Deliver high quality,, audience-focussed, sustainable exhibitions to time and budget, with appropriate risk management.
- Responsible for quality control across all exhibition projects in terms of display and interpretation.
- Procure and manage a list of approved contractors who deliver projects to time and demonstrate value for money (including exhibition designers, specialist lighting, graphic designers, technical support services and art handlers).
- Develop annual overall balanced budgets for the department and ensure appropriate levels of spend whilst maximising efficiencies.
- About you**Essential Criteria**
- Hold a relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
- Demonstrate substantial experience in sustainable exhibition management, particularly in heritage or arts settings.
- Exhibit proven project and program management skills in complex environments.
- Lead and execute effective strategies with a clear vision.
- Proficient in preparing and presenting proposals and project briefs.
- Show evidence of successful procurement, contract negotiation, and management.
- Display adept budget management and scheduling skills, emphasizing efficiency and value.
- Lead professional staff effectively, fostering inclusivity and positivity.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills, confidently communicating with stakeholders.
- Employ negotiating and influencing skills with an agile problem-solving approach.
- Understand Health and Safety requirements, legislation, and conservation best practices in exhibition installations.
