**Essential Functions**
The main function of the EHS Apprentice position is to develop practical and theoretical knowledge of EHS, a ppreciating the moral reasons for good environmental, health & safety working practices, ensuring no harm to people or the environment. A flexible and responsive approach is essential, together with the ability to effectively problem solve and identify areas where improvements can be made to existing processes and methods. As an Apprentice, you will be trained in developing the skills necessary to effectively support the EHS function at the location. As part of your apprenticeship you will complete an IOSH and NEBOSH qualification.

**Specific Reponsibilities**
- Learning about the statutory health, safety and environmental legislation and sources of associated guidance and information applicable to their working environment (e.g. Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, Management at Work Regulations 1999, Environmental Protection Act 1990, Environment Act 1995)
- Understanding methods for identifying, evaluating, and controlling hazards relevant to the workplace
- Assisting with industrial hygiene, health surveillance and wellbeing campaigns and methods for implementing these in the workplace
- Planning for Safety, Health or Environmental emergencies (e.g. accidents, exposure to hazardous substances, fire, pollution etc.)
- Ensuring the implementation of safe systems of work within our organisation
- Coordinating or helping lead health and safety training sessions
- Carrying out risk assessments
- Looking for ways to improve conditions and processes
- Investigating incidents and accidents
- Advising on HSE legislation in the workplace
- Undertake formal training in IOSH / NEBOSH
