**Responsible to: Trustees of Acts Community Church, Tylorstown**

**Line Manager: Appointed Trustee**

**Primary Function**: To act as Acts Church Drop in Centre / After School Club Co-ordinator

**Responsible for**: This job description defines the tasks that are needed to be performed. These tasks may be amended/altered at a future date.

**Main Purpose**

**To organise, develop and supervise the activities of children, young people and adults attending the Drop in Centre / After School Club.**

**Main Duties & Responsibilities**

**- Appropriate control and supervision of children, young people and adults who attend the Acts Church Drop in Centre / After School Club.**
- To plan, organise and deliver a weekly schedule of appropriate activities.
- To set up and clear away after each session.
- Maintain positive interactions with all attendees acting as role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs.
- Liaise with all volunteers and staff involved in the Drop in Centre / After School Club. Lead, manage and develop the team of volunteers.
- Comply with all Health & Safety regulations pertaining to the Drop in Centre / After School Club. Ensure that adequate standards of safety and hygiene are maintained throughout the After School Club, including the completion of appropriate risk assessments, and the recording and reporting of hazards and incidents.
- Provide refreshments (drinks and food), adhering to food hygiene standards.
- Undertake day-to-day administration tasks including maintenance and updating of records.
- Ensure that resources are maintained, cleaned and stored appropriately and arrange for replacement/new resources.
- Administer basic First Aid in accordance with the agreed First Aid Procedures.
- Liaise with parents of children / young people in the Drop in Centre / After School Club in the event of illness, injury, behaviour etc. in accordance with agreed procedures. To communicate with parents about the Drop in Centre / After School Club and its activities.
- Keep the Line Manager informed of all incidents and/or report any concerns as necessary.
- Present high standards of appearance at all times and display a professional example relating to punctuality, general behaviour, attention to detail, adaptability and flexibility.

**Hours of Work**
- Fixed-term 2 years initially but hopefully extended.
- Part time - 24 hours per week - see below for details of the hours.
- The actual working hours may vary but provisional opening hours of the Drop in Centre / After School Club is as follows:
Monday: 9.30-1.00pm Adult Drop in Centre (Warm Welcome) Plus 30 mins set up / clear away.

Tuesday : 9.30-1.00pm Adult Drop in Centre (Warm Welcome) Plus 30 mins set up / clear away.

Thursday: 9.30-1.00pm Adult Drop in Centre (Warm Welcome) Plus 30 mins set up / clear away.

Tuesday: 3.00pm-5pm After School Club (Years 5, 6 and 7) Plus 1 hour preparation, set up, clear away.

Wednesday: 3.00pm-5pm After School Club (Years 5, 6 and 7) Plus 1 hour preparation, set up, clear away.

Monday: 6.30pm-8.30pm Youth Drop in Centre (Ages 12-16) Plus 1 hour preparation, set up, clear away.

Thursday: 6.30pm-8.30pm Youth Drop in Centre (Ages 12-16) Plus 1 hour preparation, set up, clear away.

**Salary**
- £16000 per annum for 24 hours part time

- Acts Community Church Centre, 236-237 East Road, Tylorstown, Rhondda Cynon Taff, CF43 3DA

**General**
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, behaviour management reporting all concerns to an appropriate person - Line Manager / Safeguarding Officer etc.
- To attend appropriate training to continually develop the Drop in Centre / After School Club provision and their own professional skills.
- Any other duties that may be reasonably required within the grade and scope of the role.

- Good literacy/numeracy skills.
- Confident communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to use own initiative.
- Flexible and able to adapt to changing demands.
- Able to work constructively as part of a small team.
- Patience, tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle such information sensitively.
- Qualified in basic first aid (or willingness to become qualified)
- An understanding of child protection.

The following are the desirable criteria to undertake the job competently:

- Experience of working with or caring for children including children with additional needs.
