**Job Summary**

Moog Reading is currently recruiting for a Manual Machinist to join the team. Within this role, you will set up and operate machines as directed by the Machine Shop Manager in order to ensure the work allocated to the machine shop is completed to the required quality, accuracy, cost, and timescale.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Setting up machines for the jobs allocated.
- Perform the machining required to the required specifications.
- Make required calculations when performing layout and machining of angles, radii, location of milled slots, tapers, bores, etc.
- Check work visually and with a variety of precision measuring devices including a comparator.
- Assist in the inspection of goods inwards materials and final dimensional checks as per stamp register OPM F 041
- Remove and replace dull/broken tooling
- Sharpen cutting tools as necessary
- Perform necessary benchwork
- Assist in training department employees as assigned
- Purchase and maintain tools necessary to perform the job
- Maintain necessary records
- Move material as necessary in the performance of duties
- Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to the supervisor.
- Maintain work area and equipment in clean, safe, and orderly condition
- Follow established company rules and regulations and maintain quality standards
- Assist Production Control when required to progress work through the factory.
- Assist in other areas of the Company as required against reasonable requests.

**Key skills and experience**
- An indentured apprenticeship, craft, or technical qualification is desirable but the relevant specialist experience is acceptable
- Minimum 5 years experience in a machine shop environment.
- Competent in setting up and using machine tools.
- Competent in using precision measurement equipment.
