As we continue to grow our ecommerce channel in line with Ryman's key strategic objectives, there is an incedible opportunity for a dedicated Buyer to join the team to play a vital role in developing our online retail presence.

As the Ecommerce Buyer you will be responsible for sourcing market-beating promotions on products to drive site traffic and continually develop the online ranges, identifying and launching new categories across stock and dropship. Collaborating closely with the Head of Buying and the Ecommerce team to develop and execute the trading calendar to capture all opportunities with a focus on trend and customer mindset in line with key KPIs.

**Overall purpose and scope of the job**:
As a buyer, you will manage all aspects of your categories, presenting new product ranges and sourcing new opportunities for the business in line with category strategy. The role will involve line management of an Assistant Buyer. To be successful in this role you will inspire people and be able to connect & express yourself with others to enrich their lives through learning, work and play.?

**Main duties and responsibilities**:

- Responsible for a specific set of categories across all business channels, notably Ryman.co.uk
- Deliver sales, margin, stock and supplier terms budgets within your categories across all business channels
- Develop the buying strategy, in conjunction with the Senior Management team
- Provide weekly category analysis and propose actions to impact commercial performance
- To negotiate supplier terms and conditions, supplier retrospective and ad hoc monies in order to achieve budgeted targets
- Have a strong awareness of competitor activity and react accordingly to maintain a competitive commercial edge
- Review and analyse operational and financial reports to measure productivity and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements within your categories.
- Continually look for new product opportunities to improve the offering to customers, both from stocked ranges and drop-ship opportunities, challenging the status quo to ensure business growth
- Work collaboratively with the Marketing and Ecom team to deliver strong and effective promotions
- Manage and improve the supply chain within these categories to maximise profit and sales performance, ensuring that targeted levels of availability are maintained
- Visit relevant trade shows, exhibitions and suppliers, representing Ryman and The Group. International travel will be required (Covid restrictions permitting)

**What we would like to see in you**:

- A minimum of 2 to 3 years Buying experience in similar role
- An individual who is proactive and tenacious and looking to constantly find opportunities to drive sales.
- A strong negotiator with proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Can take data and analyse trends, both internal & external, to guide
- Proven influencing skills across all levels of business (including board level)
- External best practice in development of trading plans and marketing calendar
