**Environmental Enforcement Officer - Tonbridge and Malling Council, Kent**
**Environmental Enforcement Officer (EEO) protect the environment from crime, as well as supporting members of the public and witnesses of crime, providing reassurance to local people in the community**
**Location - Gibson Drive, West Malling, ME19 4LZ.**
As an EEO, you'll work in partnership with the local authorities you have been assigned. You will serve to maintain law that affect the environment, protect open spaces and property, prevent crime, reduce the amount of public that money goes to clearing up waste and improve the quality of life for all citizens. You'll use a range of technology to support the role, identify the perpetrators of offences and ensure successful prosecutions against those who break the law.
**National Enforcement Solutions mission is to make communities cleaner**:
- upholding the law and enforcing when offences are witnessed
- preventing environmental crime and antisocial behaviour
- protecting and reassuring communities about the place they live in
- investigating crime and bringing offenders to justice.
EEO’s work closely with members of the criminal justice system, local authorities, schools, local businesses, housing authorities, town planners and community groups to engage, education and enforce on behalf of those who want to reduce environmental crime or have been affected by this behaviour.
**Responsibilities as an EEO you’ll need to**:
- conduct patrol duties on foot and by car
- develop community knowledge to identify individuals and locations at risk of being affected
- respond to calls and requests from the council to investigate incidents
- work alongside communities, liaising with community groups and individuals
- diffuse potentially confrontational situations with due regard for the safety of yourself colleagues and members of the public
- act with sensitivity when dealing with situations that could mean persons are vulnerable
- conduct initial investigations, gather evidence, complete statements, and comply with relevant legal requirements
- interview suspects and witnesses in accordance with PACE 1984
- issue Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNS) for offences witnessed.
- prepare cases for court, present case files to senior officers and the local authority ready for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) (England and Wales)
- attend and give evidence in court and at other hearings
- complete administrative procedures
- submit internal crime reports and criminal intelligence reports
- act on information received from members of the public
- gather, record, and analyse intelligence to achieve environmental crime reduction objectives and provide crime prevention advice
- take direction on specific duties from senior colleagues
- enforce, litter, dog fouling, fly tipping and other crimes.
**Salary**
- The starting salary for EEO’s with National Enforcement Solutions is £24,000.
4 days out of 7 shift pattern, 40 hours per week.
