Summary Christmas is a magical time at Wightwick Manor and gardens for all the family and central to this, is a visit to see Father Christmas in his Grotto.
We are looking to recruit a special person to be our traditional Father Christmas. You'll be responsible for providing festive cheer and a warm welcome to our visitors, working closely with other members of the Grotto team.
This role is hourly paid, fixed term. Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We’d give youas much notice of this as possible.
What it's like to work here You'll be joining a small team of staff and volunteers who run the Grotto here at Wightwick Manor, a Grade 1 listed Victorian manor house located in the outskirts of Wolverhampton.
In 1937 Geoffrey Mander, a local paint manufacturer and Liberal MP, did something remarkable - he persuaded the National Trust to accept a house for the nation that was just 50 years old. Full of Morris & Co interiors and Pre-Raphaelite art, Wightwick isunexpected jewel.
What you'll be doing Reporting to the Senior House & Collections Manager, you'll help us to deliver great experiences, creating those magical memories that will last a lifetime.The Father Christmas role will involve working in costume in a traditional Christmas grotto setting, greeting families and children as well as handing out gifts.
Who we're looking for We would love to hear from you, if you have:
- Experience of working with the public in a customer service role.
- Experience of engaging, interacting and relating to children and their families/guardians.
- Ability to get into character and commit to the role, remaining jovial, happy and entertaining at all times.
- Ability to work to your own initiative without immediate assistance from manager.
- Good team worker.
- Flexible and adaptable.
