Staff Bank Podiatrist

We currently have opportunities for qualified Podiatrists to be part of a highly motivated team; working Staff Bank shifts, providing a high standard of clinical care in both the acute and community settings. You will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of Podiatric care to a variety of patients with a wide range of clinical needs.
**The main duties will include**:
- High risk foot protection patients, including diabetic foot ulceration, and neurovascular risk assessment.
- Chronic neuropathy
- Chronic disease, e.g., Rheumatoid arthritis
- Vascular disease
- Musculoskeletal problems including gait assessment
- Wound management.
- Nail Surgery
- Post nail surgery dressings and monitoring.
- Care will be provided in a range of settings. (Community, acute, patients’ home, GP surgeries, nursing homes, community and hospital based mental health)
- Having completed a postgraduate competency portfolio (or having had sufficient relevant postgraduate experience), the clinician will work autonomously and independently with indirect management supervision only.

Please note all staff members who are working in healthcare premises, working with patients/service users and/or undertaking patient/service user visits will be required to take a twice weekly Lateral Flow Test, and to produce evidence of their negative test result on request.

- To work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing specialist knowledge and skills within the defined High Risk Podiatry care pathway, MSK pathway and Nail Surgery.
- Within the High-Risk Podiatry care pathway act autonomously in assessing, diagnosing and care planning patients within a complex caseload. To deliver high quality Podiatry care to patients with complex needs including those patients with Diabetes, Peripheral Vascular Disease, Renal disease, compromised immune system Rheumatoid Arthritis, Learning Disabilities and Mental Health Disorders through the development and implementation of detailed care plans
- To work independently in a variety of settings, which will include clinics, health centres, GP practices, hospitals, residential and nursing homes, as well as patients own homes
- To provide short term cover for the high-risk advanced Podiatrist during periods of planned and unplanned absence
- Delivery of a complex caseload across a variety of settings
- To be responsible for the implementation of individual packages of care through to patient discharge, using appropriate treatment modalities; constantly revising and reflecting on practice.
- To ensure patients receive appropriate and timely interventions based on clinical need, deciding on intervals between appointments, and adjusting according to need
- To work autonomously and independently without supervision, using advanced assessment skills to provide treatment/management of often complex conditions. The post includes domiciliary visits and working entirely alone in some clinical settings
