Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner Trainee - Adult Community Mental Health
Band 4 (Band 5 after training has been completed)
This is an exciting, brand-new role created by Health Education England and NHS England and Improvement to support the transformation of adult community mental health services. Your training will be fully funded by the NHS, and you will be eligible for a full-time qualified position if you pass the course. In return, we ask that you commit to staying with us for at least two years after you qualify. These posts are suitable for graduates (e.g., psychology) and non-graduates, who have the right personal qualities. This role will contribute to ensuring adults with severe mental health problems have greater access to psychologically informed interventions.

You will be involved in the development of an exciting new service in primary care working with severe mental health presentations. In addition to your mental health and wellbeing training you will also be trained to facilitate a group emotional regulation intervention.
The role involves seeing adult patients, in person or via video link, who have been referred by GPs and other local services and providing psychological support for them in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. This will include providing the following psychological interventions:
- behavioural activation and graded exposure using the ‘GOALS’ programme
- problem-solving
- improving sleep
- recognising and managing emotions
- confidence building
- support with managing medicines management
- Providing care management support, such as connecting service users with other agencies.
You’ll work as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team to promote good mental health and recovery from severe mental health problems.
We exist to make a positive difference to the health & wellbeing of people and communities who need our services. This is our core purpose and the reason we come to work every day. We provide a full range of physical, mental health and learning disability services to children, young adults, adults & older adults over many sites across Coventry, Warwickshire & Solihull. The Trust currently holds a 'Good' CQC rating.
Our Community Mental Health Transformation Programme means that we are seeking new and innovative ways to improve the services we deliver in a more holistic, person-centred way, which treats both physical and mental health. Come and join our expanding team at this time of growth and investment in our staff and services. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the transformation as you progress your career with us. We nurture our staff to be the best they can be and provide continued personal and professional development opportunities.
We care for you as much as you care for others and we offer a wide range of support services and benefits to promote staff wellbeing and a good work life balance, including flexible working.
Our dedicated People Hub brings together all our support services including COPE, our in-house counselling service, emotional support through Staff in Mind, and much more. Employee Assistance Programme has a 24/7 helpline for advice and guidance with anything that is on your mind work-related or not, as well as a salary sacrifice scheme.
