The British Museum, one of the most prestigious museums in the UK, is looking for a Treasure Registrar to be based in London. This is a temporary assignment for 2 months with possible extension for another month.

**The role**:
As Treasure Registrar, you will carry out the administration of archaeological finds reported under the Treasure Act 1996. You will support an existing team of a Senior Treasure Registrar, three other full time registrars, and one part-time registrar to work on the processing of treasure finds.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Carrying out formal correspondence with finders, landowners, and coroners relating to cases of potential Treasure which are disclaimed by the Crown, are determined not to meet the criteria for Treasure, or are required to be heard at inquest.
- Completing and posting out certificates to finders and landowners who have waived their rewards for cases of Treasure.
- The registration of finds, updating and organising files and databases on a daily basis.
- Liaising with Finds Liaison Officers (FLOs) of the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS), local museum curators and archaeologists to obtain details of finds and to confirm disposition.
- Other duties in support of the department as required.

**How you’ll dazzle us**:
Good written and oral communication skills and the ability to liaise productively with internal and external contacts at all levels is necessary. You will also be required to work independently and as part of a team.
