**Job Title: Head of Finance**

**Reporting to: Chief Executive**

**Location: Barnsley**

**Starting salary: £28,128 (Band 4)**

**Hours of work: Part time 22.5 hours (Flexible between Monday to Friday 8:30am and 4:30pm)**

**Contract type: Part Time Permanent**

**Role purpose**

FareShare Yorkshire is a Charity which now in its 25th year of operation and has grown significantly over the last 3 years. FareShare Yorkshire operates from 3 sites in Barnsley and Leeds delivering Surplus Food Provision services, Employability Programmes and its own cookery school - The FullCrumb Kitchen.

The Head of Finance role sits within the charity’s Senior Management team and will provide vital accounting support to all areas of the Charity’s work to achieve our vision:
**_“To improve the wellbeing of people in Yorkshire and see an end to Food Insecurity in our region."_**

**To do this, the Head of Finance will**:

- Assume management and financial accountant responsibility for the Charity's accounts, supporting the CEO, Treasurer and the Development Manager with fundraising governances and financial planning.
- Identify, recommend and implement financial processes to ensure all Charity finance operations are efficient, resilient, robust and enable effective and meaningful reporting.
- Lead on the production of management and annual accounts to the Charity Commission and the Charity's external and internal audit processes.
- Work with the CEO to produce budgets and forecasts and to report on the charity’s financial position at quarterly board meetings.
- Support the charity’s strategy, planning, service delivery and income generation, ensuring effective processes are in place for resource allocation, cost control and performance monitoring.
- Generate and manage the invoicing systems using XERO including reporting and recording payments and expenses.
- Ensure the Charity have robust internal financial controls, financial governance and risk management systems which are followed and regularly reviewed.

**Skills Required**:

- Relevant Finance/Accounting qualification equal or equivalent to AAT qualification or higher
- Time management skills essential, with the ability to prioritise and juggle tasks.
- Possess a positive mind-set with a can-do attitude
- Relevant experience and up to date qualifications and demonstrable continued professional development
- Excellent knowledge of excel
- Confident to act on own initiative and be self-motivated Collaborative, positive, tactful and patient
- Experience in managing Charity accounts to audit level and working knowledge of Xero accounting software is desirable
