I am an elderly gentleman living at home in Sprouston, Kelso with my wife, who requires palliative

support care - I desperately wish to be at home for the remainder of my life but need a team of

carers to allow me to be able to do so.

**Main tasks and responsibilities**

**Morning (2 carers for 45 minutes)**
- Please enter at the front of the house - my bedroom is to the left hand side of the house.***
- Please gather from the from the bathroom all items required to give me a wash - please

ensure you have everything to hand in order to wash me, give me a shave and also brush my

teeth.***
- Please use equipment provided, including hoist, to clean and change me, checking for

pressure sores whilst doing so.***
- Please ensure I am thoroughly dried before then dressing me and popping on my

shoes/slippers.***
- Please empty my catheter bag and attach it to my leg using the leg straps.***
- Please then either ensure I am hoisted up on the bed to a seating position or moved through

to my chair in the living room depending on my preference.***
- I will then need you to prepare my breakfast for me along with a drink of choice.***

**Bed (2 carers for 30 minutes)**
- Please enter at the front of the house - my bedroom is to the left hand side of the house.
- If I am in the living room, please ensure I am safely hoisted from my chair through to my bed

to get ready for the night.
- Please gather from the bathroom all of my items required should I have had a bowel

movement - basin, sponge and toiletries, clean pad.
- Please use the equipment provided, including hoist, to clean and change me, if required,

checking for pressure sores whilst doing so.
- Please ensure I am thoroughly dried before then helping me into my nightwear.
- Please empty my catheter bag and attach my night bag.
- Please then either ensure I am hoisted to a comfortable position in bed for the night.
- I will then need you to leave a drink by my bedside.
- Finally, I am medication level 4 so will need someone who is qualified at such a level to be

able to administer my medication for me.

- I would like someone who is compassionate and caring towards the needs of a palliative

person.
- Someone who is honest, reliable, trustworthy and confidential.

**Hours of work**
- Durations as above with some flexibility around times - all visits are double-ups.

**The terms**
- £11.50 per hour.
- 5.6 weeks annual leave.
