**Head of Facilities**

**Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust - Reading RG1 5AN.**

**37.5 hpw - Monday to Friday 08.00-16.00 (Inc. flexibility depending on service needs)**

**Pay: £35.04/hr**

**Role involves travelling between Trust sites, so a full driving licence is required.**

A vacancy has arisen on a temporary basis of up to 6 months for a **Head of Facilities** to take over the running of Strategic Operational Management of the Soft FM services across the whole trust. **Key Objectives**
- Provide visionary leadership and direction for Facilities Services
- Collaborate with Directorate teams for financial excellence.
- Share expertise on best practices, operational effectiveness, and financial sustainability.
- Offer professional advice to Trust Executive and stakeholders.
- Contribute to key performance targets, service developments, and strategy.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- **Strategy**_
- Lead strategically and operationally in Facilities day-to-day functional delivery areas.
- Formulate annual workforce development plans.
- Ensure clear objectives complying with Directorate standards.
- Collaborate with external advisers and stakeholders.
- Lead the Trust's PLACE program and environmental upgrades.
- Cultivate a culture of high customer service and patient-centred care.
- Identify commercial opportunities for income maximisation.
- Champion Staff wellbeing, Health and Safety, risk management, and incident reporting.
- Undertake projects for continuous improvement.
- **Monitoring & Performance Management**_
- Ensure accurate data collection and reporting for operational excellence.
- Conduct audits for compliance assurance and best practices, and review NHS and sector best practices.
- Provide relevant management reports on all Facilities aspects.
- Set, monitor, and maintain standards for professionalism and technical aspects.
- **Governance and Assurance**_
- Actively manage and resolve risks across the division.
- Coordinate colleagues for the quality plan.
- Stay updated on national best practices and CQC standards.
- Foster a culture of innovation and improvement.
- **Service Development**_
- Ensure services adapt to changing requirements with constant improvement.
- Lead quality and service improvement programs.
- Devise plans based on user feedback and service improvements.
- Analyse data for performance enhancement opportunities.
- **Finance and Physical Resources**_
- Manage facilities budget for adherence and value for money.
- Ensure financial efficiency in purchasing and supply.
- Prepare and report on financial information.
- **Corporate and Communications**_
- Represent the Director of Estates and Facilities when required.
- Develop system-wide partnerships and collaboration.
- Represent the Trust at BOB ICS meetings and forums.
- Provide clear leadership for staff performance management.
- **Staff Management and Development**_
- Lead, motivate, and develop Facilities staff.
- Direct and manage departmental Managers.
- Monitor staff performance, sickness absence, and provide appropriate action.
- Actively promote diversity in delivery and management of staff.

**Person Specification**
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
- Extensive knowledge of healthcare services and/or Estates and Facilities Management services, with significant experience in a senior operational and management level in a complex environment.
- Experience of leading and managing a large team of staff.
- Successful track record in leading and delivering organisational change.
- Someone who can demonstrate Continuous Personal Development, ideally with a membership of a professional body and Project Management qualifications such as PRINCE2.
- This role may require you to show evidence of education to Degree level or at least 2 years relevant experience._
