Yard Operative

Reporting to the site supervisor yard operatives assist in unloading and loading vehicles with scrap metal, sorting and grading metals unloaded, using handheld equipment to break down metals, loading and unloading the baler and any other yard tasks required. The ability to think about what needs to be done and doing it without having to be asked is essential in this role.

Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to
- Weigh and record metal deliveries
- Grade and sort metal, by hand or machine
- Shred scrap metal into pieces using hydraulic shears and cutter
- Use of machinery to crush scrap
- Plant and Machinery defect checks and completion of defect sheets before use
- General Housekeeping

**Qualifications**:

- Forklift truck driving licence is essential.
- Experience in the scrap industry would be an advantage.
- Trustworthy and reliable with the ability to be work on own initiative
