**Position**:
Are you an Ecologist working at Senior or Principal level, with previous team management experience? If you are commercially aware, with excellent client communication and project management skills, and leadership potential, we would love to hear from you
We are looking for Senior or Principal Ecologist to join and lead one of our Guildford teams. It’s an ambitious team made up ecologists with a range of experience levels, which shall continue to grow under your leadership.
This is a permanent position, with a working split between our Guildford office, home and on-site work.
**Key responsibilities**
- Effective team management and management of all aspects of projects, survey and reporting, supporting the needs of colleagues and clients, and working at all times to achieve the company’s vision and values.
- Manage, lead and support a team of ecologists, fostering a positive culture in line with the company values.
- Be responsible for achieving the team’s revenue and profit targets.
- Project manage large and complex projects on time and to budget.
- Competently review all ecology reports and deliverables.
- Be a role model in attitude, behaviour and loyalty to junior members of the company.
- Maintaining a positive, solution-focused approach to projects and line managers.
- Record, analyse, report and manage your work in accordance with Thomson’s systems, policies and procedures including those within the Project Management Handbook.
- Continually improve your levels of knowledge of ecology, legislation and survey techniques and keep up to date with new developments.
- Undertake any other tasks and responsibilities as instructed by your line manager.
**Requirements**:
- To be based in Guildford part of the week
- Proven demonstrable experience within a commercial ecological consultancy.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to write clear, concise reports.
- An in-depth knowledge of ecology, legislation, and survey techniques and an enthusiasm for keeping up to date with new technologies and best practice guidelines.
- Line management experience.
- Advanced species knowledge and field skills, experience in one or more specialist areas.
- Exceptional planning and organisational skills for your own time and project work.
- Capable of working under pressure with the ability to meet critical deadlines.
- Creative approach to delivering ecological projects.
- An enthusiastic, flexible, can-do work attitude.
- A positive outlook and a strong desire to succeed.
- Full membership of CIEEM.
- A full UK driving licence and use of a car
