**Overview**

A new department has been created to develop learners in achieving their HGV licence and developing professional driving skills. The role will be one of our delegated driving examiners and will be providing theory and practical driving test for drivers joining Wincanton under the Future Drivers Programme

**How will you contribute?**
- Deliver training to learners seeking to achieve their HGV licence (category C and C+E).
- Develop professional driving skills for learners seeking to achieve their HGV licence.
- Deliver familiarisation training with the different types of vehicles and trailers.
- Deliver classroom training to prepare learners for the Driver CPC part 1 & 2 test.
- Deliver practical demonstration and use of vehicle to prepare learner for Driver CPC part 3a and 3b test.
- Deliver practical demonstration and training to prepare learner for Driver CPC part 4 test.
- Reach the appropriate standard in the Mod 3a online assessment to become an approved Module 3a Assessor for Wincanton.
- Pass the mandatory training course for Delegated Examiners to become a Module 3b examiner for Wincanton.
- Carry out a minimum of 40 test a year for Module 3a and 40 test a year for Module 3b following the appropriate standards set by DVSA.
- Take regular periodic training covering a minimum of 4 days every 2 years of examiner skills and 5 days every 5 years of driving skills.
- Collate and provide KPIs and statistics based on the performance of the team.
- Maintain and update the Driving Academy policies aligned to Wincanton safety standards.
- Work closely with the customers and Health & Safety team to identify training / development needs and put in place suitable training solutions.
- Manage the quality of all courses being delivered from the Driving Academy.
- Ensure the relevant accreditations are in place and maintained.

**What will you bring?**
- Have a full category C+E driving license
- Have a working knowledge training drivers from car license to HGV license.
- Be registered as a LGV instructor with NIR or NVDIR is desirable but not mandatory.
- Have a working knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of a trainer in relation to legislation, equality, diversity, inclusivity and meeting the needs of the learners.
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to develop teaching and training material using the appropriate resources to support effective learning.
- Understand and have a working knowledge of the Goods Vehicle Operator License undertakings for the UK.
- Be able to articulate, check, and challenge EC Driver and UK Domestic hours legislation and Working Time legislation requirements and means of managing.
- Have a working knowledge of safety schemes and accreditations including but not limited to ADR, FORS, CLOCS, LLCS etc.
- Understand the needs of the HSAW act and associated legislation pertinent to vehicle operations eg LOLER/PSSR etc.
- Have an appreciation of vehicle maintenance and the Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness, HGV MOT testers manual, and Categorization of Defects.
- Prioritisation and delegation skills
- IT literate including experience of Microsoft Office Packages
