**What's involved with this role**:
**Planning Officer**

**Pay rate £18.28 per hour PAYE**
- Produce accurate and timely Committee and Delegated reports with mínimal supervision, in accordance with the Council’s planning policy guidelines and procedures.
- Assisting the appropriate Planning Manager and Enforcement Officers to investigate complaints and reports of breaches/infringements of planning control.
- In discussion with a senior planning officer, to carry out unaccompanied site visits on allocated development proposals. To put up site notices as required.
- In discussion with a senior planning officer, to prepare and sign correspondence with mínimal supervision.
- In discussion with and/or accompanied by a senior planner as appropriate, carry out negotiations with applicants to improve quality of development proposals in accordance with Council policy and to ensure the highest standards and design of development.
- Attend Planning Committee Meetings and accurately record the proceedings

- Town planning degree or recognised degree (e.g. Geography, Economics, Environmental Studies etc.) leading to membership of the RTPI
- Experience of representing the Council at written representation appeals
- Good writing skills to enable the preparation of clear and accurate reports and to deal efficiently with general correspondence
- Ability to liaise closely with Planning Support Officers and other staff
- Ability to coach and motivate junior members of staff
