- HE4037-23-106**This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled researcher to work as part of a research team at the University of Brighton, to undertake a scoping review of gambling in LGBTQ+ communities.**

The position is fixed term until 30th of November 2023 as the funding is limited to this period. The project is funded by GambleAware with the aim to scope, 1) the prevalence of gambling harm amongst LGBTQ+ communities, 2) the interventions for LGBTQ+ people to reduce gambling harm, 3) the barriers LGBTQ+ people experience to accessing services, and 4) the protective factors against gambling harm. Based on the outcomes of the scoping review, recommendations will be made for future research, for service users, as well as for practitioners who work in the field.

You will play a key role in the project including: to develop a scoping review protocol in collaboration with the research team; to lead a review of gambling harms in LGBTQ+ populations, including: a literature search, screening of articles for inclusion, data extraction, critical appraisal of included studies, and interpretation and analysis of the results; to liaise with national and international organisations to identify “grey” literature; to draft the final report for the project funders; to prepare a verbal presentation of the findings to the Project Advisory Committee; to participate in regular meetings with the research team; to draft a paper for publication; and to prepare a conference presentation.

To be successful in this post you should have:

- Experience of conducting academic reviews (particularly scoping reviews) of research in a related field (e.g., public health).
- Sufficient, up to date breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in gambling addiction and/or LGBTQ+ communities or related health inequalities as well as planning of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes.
- Strong academic paper writing and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Competent IT skills, including reference database searching, the use of reference management software, and Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

Experience of carrying out reviews of primary research and “grey” literature, experience of research with LGBTQ+ communities, and a track record of review publications, would be desirable, but not essential to this role.

Interviews will be held W/C 17th April, and we would need the successful applicant to be able to start no later than 5 weeks after.
